Each year during the VFW Legislative Conference, hundreds of VFW leaders from across the nation storm Capitol Hill and meet with their congressional representatives and senators to discuss veterans’ issues. This year they’ll be armed with the VFW’s Legislative Priority Goals for 2013, and VFW advocates plan to visit with every Congressional office, explaining in detail the VFW’s stance on a variety of veterans’ issues like access to VA benefits, military quality-of-life programs, economic opportunity and health care.
The week culminates with VFW Commander-in-Chief John Hamilton’s testimony before a joint hearing of the Senate and House Veterans Affairs Committees where Hamilton will lay out the VFW’s legislative agenda for the year. You’ll be able to watch the testimony on-demand the afternoon of March 5 at http://www.vfw.org/vfwconference/.
This is what we’ve been waiting for. With all of the uncertainty surrounding veterans’ and military issues, this year’s conference is more important than ever. Now is our time to tell our nation’s leaders we will hold them accountable for their actions.
