VFW Joins with Main Street to Provide Financial Education to Veterans

The initiative fills the pressing need for financial literacy within the veteran community

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The VFW is pleased to announce it has joined with Main Street, a leading financial education company, to develop a comprehensive national financial education initiative aimed at empowering veterans across the country with ongoing content and resources tailored specifically for veterans and their unique needs.

  • Virtual Surveys: To assess the financial education needs of veterans.
  • Curriculum Development: Customized educational materials based on survey responses.
  • Virtual and In-Person Classes: Leadership training for VFW members and direct financial education for veterans.
  • Economic Hotline: A dedicated hotline where veterans can text/email questions and receive immediate responses and referrals.
  • On-Demand Video Content: Videos to address frequently asked questions, designed for social media and other platforms.

With over 25 years of experience in financial education, Ryan Mack, president of Main Street recognized a pressing need for targeted financial literacy resources within the veteran community.

"Veterans have done so much for our country, keeping us safe," Mack stated. "It breaks my heart to see high rates of homelessness among this population. These individuals have literally put their lives on the line for me and my family, yet we aren’t doing enough to take care of them.
