KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The 2009 VFW Mid-Winter Conference and National Council of Administration Meeting was held February 19-22 in Louisville, KY.
VFW Commander-in-Chief Glen Gardner opened the general session and guest speakers included VA Secretary, General Eric Shineski, Executive Director of the Disabled Veterans’ Life Memorial Foundation, Victor Biggs, and Adjutant General of the Army, Brigadier General Reuben Jones.
In a special presentation, Mr. Michael Weisskopf was presented with the VFW News Media Award for his committed effort toward providing genuine and intimate insight into United States military service and the recovery process wounded service members face.
Twenty-one VFW Departments were on hand to present check donations to VFW Operation Uplink™, and three teachers were awarded the VFW National Citizenship Education Teacher Award:
