VFW MEMBERS HAVE SAVED $4 MILLION ON
MEDICATIONS BY USING THE HEALTHCARE ALLIANCE CARD
Pharmacy Discount Cards Used by VFW Members on
More
Than 235,000 Prescription Purchases
New York, NY, June 17,
2015 — ScriptRelief has
announced that its Healthcare Alliance Card has helped members of the Veterans
of Foreign Wars organization save more than $4,000,000 on prescription
medications. The VFW first offered the pharmacy discount card to members in November
of 2012. Since then, the discount card has been mailed to more than 1.3 million
VFW and VFW family members and the savings tool is available on the VFW’s
website at www.vfw.org.
“Our organization is
dedicated to providing assistance to veterans however we can, and the pharmacy
discount card is one of our most popular medical services benefits,” said John
Hamilton, adjutant general of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. “Veterans face many
challenges in regard to health care and we’re proud to help alleviate burdens
wherever we can.”
The complimentary cards
provide veterans with discounts on FDA-approved prescription medications sold
at numerous pharmacies including Costco, Publix, Rite Aid, Target, Walgreens
and Walmart. The cards are pre-activated and no registration is required for
use. Cardholders simply present the card to the pharmacist when filling a
prescription at their local pharmacy.
The Healthcare Alliance
Card is part of a group of prescription savings tools powered by ScriptRelief.
While discounts vary based on the prescriptions being filled, ScriptRelief
reports that the average discount provided by its cards is almost 50
percent.
“It is highly gratifying
to learn that the Healthcare Alliance Card is providing a meaningful benefit to
veterans across the country,” said Rich Vogel, COO and co-founder of Script
Relief, LLC. “We value our relationship with the VFW, and we’re thrilled that
we are able to help veterans save money on the medications they need.”
The Healthcare Alliance
Card is free to veterans, and cardholder information is never sold or rented to
a third party. The cardholder’s information is fully protected by the Health
Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA.)
