KANSAS CITY, Mo., – The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) is proud to announce it is the National Presenting Sponsor of Irreverent Warriors, an organization dedicated to improving mental wellness and combatting veteran suicide through creative engagements, events and a strong veteran-based support network.
Open to veterans, active-duty service members and reservists, Irreverent Warriors was founded in 2015 and joined with The Grunt Style Foundation in 2023, uniting to establish the largest outreach network of its kind in the military community. Together, their national efforts ensure veterans are provided with the necessary resources and opportunities needed to improve their quality of life.
From barbecues, sporting events and river floats to their well-known “Silkies Hikes" spanning nearly 200 cities across the globe, Irreverent Warriors’ events bring veterans and the military community together, giving them an opportunity to connect and share in camaraderie while being active in the outdoors.
"We are proud to stand alongside Irreverent Warriors in our shared mission to strengthen camaraderie, break the stigmas surrounding mental wellness, and prevent veteran suicide,” said VFW National Commander Al Lipphardt. “By bringing veterans young and old together in a supportive, uplifting environment, we are reaffirming that no one fights alone. For the VFW, this relationship is more than just an alliance — it’s a commitment to ensuring every veteran knows they have a place, a purpose and a network that truly understands them.”
Also through this supportive endeavor, VFW will work to enhance participants’ understanding of their VA benefits and compensation eligibility, and continue to offer free, accredited representation to all those who wish to file a VA claim.
An estimated 50,000 veterans, service members and reservists participate in Irreverent Warriors’ events each year.
