VFW Statement on Ottawa Shooting

Kansas City, Mo. — “Our support and prayers go out to Cpl. Nathan Cirillo’s loved ones and the entire Ottawa community after yesterday’s senseless shooting,” said John W. Stroud, the national commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States.

“While many details behind the shooting remain unknown, this soldier’s family and community need our support. Now is the time for our leaders in Washington to stand united with the Canadian government, and in the days ahead, provide support by any means necessary.

“Yesterday was a sad reminder that no nation is safe against terrorism and together we must stand against this evil.”
