KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Today, we honor the impeccable service and dedication the men and women of the United States Navy has shown our nation for the past 246 years. With a service record a mile long and twice as deep, U.S. Naval Forces have served with distinction in every war, and have proven to be the world’s most formidable force on the high seas.
When called upon by our nation, they have served with remarkable courage and valor. The resolve and fortitude of the men and women of the Navy have helped lead America to victory for well over two centuries.
Today, citizens have a newly discovered respect for those who serve in uniform, who serve on America’s front lines, those who don’t hesitate to serve in harm’s way. Never before have so many owed so much to so few.
As U.S. Navy personnel celebrate 246-year history of service to the nation, the more than 1.5 million members of the VFW and its Auxiliary offer their sincerest 'thank you.' We are proud of our sailors, and salute them for continuing to protect our freedoms.
