Event Sponsorships

Every year, thousands of VFW and Auxiliary delegates gather to represent the organization’s more than 1.5 million members during a weeklong convention.The VFW National Convention is our biggest event with an estimated 10,000 attendees. The weeklong event lasts for six days and occurs in late July. While there, the VFW's mission is to approve new national priorities to guide the organization as it lobbies Congress on issues important to the nation’s veterans, service members and their families.

VFW convention delegates also elect new leadership, as well as recognize prominent individuals and organizations for their support of veterans and military personnel. Convention attendees often include elected representatives from every level of government, high profile or famous personalities, influencers, and top representatives from the military and veteran community. 

The VFW National Convention offers the most opportunities for sponsorship for your company. During the convention there is a traditional area for vendors to market their materials and products directly to VFW and Auxiliary members, and their families. There are also classrooms available for individual educational classes/learning sessions. During the evening there are many networking and fun events to keep you entertained all week.

Since 1949, the VFW's annual Legislative Conference has provided an opportunity for VFW leaders from each state to personally lobby their respective lawmakers and watch as the VFW's current Commander-in-Chief testifies on Capitol Hill before the House and Senate Veterans' Affairs Committees on behalf of veterans.

Guest speakers are invited to address conference delegates, and since 1964 the VFW's Congressional Award has been presented annually to one sitting member of the House or Senate for their significant legislative contributions on behalf of those who have worn the uniform. Also at the event, the winners of the Voice of Democracy and Patriot's Pen scholarship contests are announced. Each national winner reads their winning essay before conference delegates and are presented with their winnings.

The main item for sponsorship for the VFW Legislative Conference is the Legislative Reception. At this reception, the SVA Fellows are recognized, VFW awards are given out and many members of congress appear. It is a major networking event that offers opportunities for exposure for your company. It also provides a chance to understand the VFW’s legislative priorities.

Sponsorship opportunities during the annual conference includes: 

• Voice of Democracy Parade of Winners – Streamed live online, the VFW's annual youth scholarship contests culminate with the Parade of Winners event, designed to celebrate and recognize the contests’ top national winners. 
• VFW-SVA Legislative Fellowship – Open for sponsorship all year, every year the VFW teams up with Student Veterans of America (SVA) to host the VFW-SVA Legislative Fellowship program, providing exemplary VFW members who are student veterans the opportunity to make their voices heard on Capitol Hill and in their community.
• The Legislative Reception –  A night filled with honoring key veteran advocates from Capitol Hill, the Legislative Reception provides a great sponsorship opportunity.
